Bored 😕 of eating bread ? Here’s presenting Babka 🍞 a sweet braided bread which is prepared with a yeast-leavened dough filled with chocolate, cinnamon, fruits, nuts, options are endless 😋. Grab a cup of coffee / tea ☕️ to enjoy this 🤤 mouth-drooling bread.
⏰ Prep Time : 5 mins, 🥖Proofing time : 2 hours + 1 hour, 🍲 Air fry Time : 20-25 mins, 🍴 Servings : 1 bread loaf
🌾 Ingredients for Babka :
- Instant Dry Yeast : 1 tsp
- Demerara Sugar : 2 tbsp
- Water : ¼ cup
- Wheat flour : 2½ cup
- Cinnamon Powder : 1 tsp
- Salt : A pinch
- Canola Oil / Pure Ghee : 2 tbsp
- Grated Chocolate : 1 bar / 100 gms
- Milk (any / dairy-free) : For brushing
- Gems / M&M : To sprinkle
- White Chocolate : To drizzle
♨️ Preparing Babka :
- In a bowl add lukewarm water, yeast, sugar, flour, cinnamon powder, salt & oil
- Knead well for 5 mins & grease it
- Cover with cling film & keep it in a warm place
- Let it proof for 2 hours or until it double in size
- Now knead the dough again for 30 seconds & flatten it with a rolling pin
- Grate chocolate on it & roll the dough in cylindrical shape
- Make 2 cuts to get 3 ropes and braid it
- Pinch the top and bottom of the bread nicely to hold the shape
- Grease bread tin & place the braided bread in it
- Brush some milk & sprinkle Gems / M&M
- Cover it with cling film & let it rest for 1 hour in a warm place
- Preheat air fryer @ 180° C for 5 mins
- Brush some milk again & place bread tin in air fryer
- Bake the bread @ 140° C for 25-30 mins or until skewer comes out clean
- Remove bread tin from air fryer and let it cool
🍽 Assembling Babka :
- Demould Babka and put on a wired rack
- Melt white chocolate & drizzle on it
- Using serrated knife cut thick slices, serve warm or at room temperature
