Chia seeds Pheni or Vermicelli

Good Looking, Tasty and Healthy Sargi with Chia Seeds

Cooking Time – 20 mins, Serves – 4

Ingredients :

  1. 1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  2. 2 Tbsp Water
  3. 1/2 cup Vermicelli (or Pheni)
  4. 1 Tsp Canola Oil
  5. 2 Tbsp Desiccated Coconut powder
  6. 1 ½ cup Milk
  7. 1 ½ Tbsp Sugar
  8. 1 Tsp Cinnamon Powder
  9. 1 Tbsp + 1 tsp Dates Syrup
  10. Nuts (Optional)

To Garnish :

  1. Sliced Seedless Dates
  2. Almonds

How to prepare Chia seeds :

  1. In a separate bowl soak Chia seeds in water and keep it aside for 10-20 mins, allowing it to swell. It should convert in a glue like texture
  2. Once it swells divide it into 2 bowls
  3. In one bowl add 1 tsp of Dates syrup and mix well
  4. Keep the 2nd bowl unsweetened (or sweetener if you don’t like chia seeds flavorless)

How to prepare Vermicelli :

  1. In a non-stick pan, dry roast Vermicelli for 3 mins, until it starts to change the color
  2. Add Canola Oil and roast for another 3 mins
  3. Add desiccated coconut powder and roast for 2 mins
  4. Now, add Milk, Sugar, 1 tbsp Dates syrup and cinnamon powder and cook until it thickens
  5. Remove from flame and add nuts of your choice
  6. Allow it to cool before serving

How to Serve :

  1. Take a short glass and pour a spoonful of cooked vermicelli
  2. Now add chia seeds mixed with dates syrup
  3. Add another spoonful of vermicelli
  4. This time, top it up with unsweetened chia seeds
  5. Repeat the layers depending upon the height of the glass or serving dish
  6. Garnish with Sliced/Whole seedless Dates or Almonds
  7. Chill it for 10 mins for better results
