Good Looking, Tasty and Healthy Sargi with Chia Seeds
Cooking Time – 20 mins, Serves – 4
Ingredients :
- 1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
- 2 Tbsp Water
- 1/2 cup Vermicelli (or Pheni)
- 1 Tsp Canola Oil
- 2 Tbsp Desiccated Coconut powder
- 1 ½ cup Milk
- 1 ½ Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tsp Cinnamon Powder
- 1 Tbsp + 1 tsp Dates Syrup
- Nuts (Optional)
To Garnish :
- Sliced Seedless Dates
- Almonds
How to prepare Chia seeds :
- In a separate bowl soak Chia seeds in water and keep it aside for 10-20 mins, allowing it to swell. It should convert in a glue like texture
- Once it swells divide it into 2 bowls
- In one bowl add 1 tsp of Dates syrup and mix well
- Keep the 2nd bowl unsweetened (or sweetener if you don’t like chia seeds flavorless)
How to prepare Vermicelli :
- In a non-stick pan, dry roast Vermicelli for 3 mins, until it starts to change the color
- Add Canola Oil and roast for another 3 mins
- Add desiccated coconut powder and roast for 2 mins
- Now, add Milk, Sugar, 1 tbsp Dates syrup and cinnamon powder and cook until it thickens
- Remove from flame and add nuts of your choice
- Allow it to cool before serving
How to Serve :
- Take a short glass and pour a spoonful of cooked vermicelli
- Now add chia seeds mixed with dates syrup
- Add another spoonful of vermicelli
- This time, top it up with unsweetened chia seeds
- Repeat the layers depending upon the height of the glass or serving dish
- Garnish with Sliced/Whole seedless Dates or Almonds
- Chill it for 10 mins for better results
