🌾 Ingredients for Babka bread :

Dough :

  • ½ tbsp instant dry Yeast
  • ¼ cup lukewarm Water
  • 2 tbsp Demerara Sugar
  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Canola Oil
  • 1 tbsp Dairy-free milk or oil for brushing

For Chocolaty-dates filled Babka :

  • ¼ cup melted milk Chocolate or chocolate spread
  • ¼ cup dairy-free milk / dark Chocolate chips, as per taste
  • 6 chopped Dates
  • 2 tbsp Pineapple jam for brushing

♨️ Preparing Babka bread :

  1. Combine the dough ingredients & knead for 5 mins, rest it 2 hours or until it doubles in size.
  2. Gently knead it again for a min to release the air and make it pliable.
  3. Divide the dough into 6 equal-size.
  4. Take 1 ball, flatten it in oval-shape, spread melted chocolate, add dates & chocolate chips, roll it to make a loaf.
  5. Now cut into half, braid & roll it, then keep it in a muffin tin for a similar shape as I got.
  6. Make remaining breads likewise and brush the babkas, then proof for at least 30 mins.
  7. Preheat air fryer @180° C for 5 mins.
  8. Place muffin tin in air fryer & bake babkas @140° C for 20 mins, flip it & bake another 10 mins for even baking.
  9. Once baked gently remove from air fryer & let it cool slightly.

🍽 Assembling Babka bread :

  1. Apply pineapple jam while its still warm so it can absorb the sweetness & retain its moistness.
  2. Serve them warm and enjoy feasting 😋.

Useful Tips :

  • Make sure to proof the dough in a warm place for the perfect results, give it additional time if needed.
  • Instead of chocolate spread you can also use peanut or almond butter for nutty flavours.
