Crystal Modak

Hey Healthy Food lovers 😇 worried on buying sweets from market 😕 on this Ganesh Chaturthi 🙏. Here’s my #gluten-free # quick #mesmerizing 😋 “Crystal Modak – made of Coconut water”. Modaks are very special to me. I made this with my dear Husband at #Masterchef of Middle East & qualified for quarterfinals. It was a journey which raised my cooking skills 👩‍🍳

⏰ Prep Time : 10 mins, 🍲 Cooking Time : 10 mins, 🍴 Servings : 10 modaks

🌾Ingredients for Crystal Modak :

  • 2 cups Water or Coconut water
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Agar-Agar strips
  • Saffron strands
  • Fruits any (Apple, Kiwi, Blueberry)
  • Nuts any (Cashews, Pistachios)
  • Desiccated coconut powder (to sprinkle)

♨️Preparing Crystal Modak :

  • Dissolve agar-agar and sugar in 1 cup of room temperature water and soak it for 15 mins
  • Put on a stove and bring it to a boil
  • Simmer for 7 mins or until agar-agar is completely dissolved
  • Strain the through a sieve
  • Add 1 cup of water to it, mix well and let it cool for 5-7 mins
  • In the meanwhile thinly slice Fruits and dry fruits of your choice

🍽Assembling / Presenting Crystal Modak :

  • Take modak moulds
  • Place fruits, dry fruits, and saffron strand in each of them
  • Pour water mix in moulds and let it set at room temperature for 10 mins
  • Now refrigerate for 30 mins
  • Demould on a serving plate and sprinkle desiccated coconut powder for sparkling effect
