🥯Za’atar & Beet Bagels🥯

When Western recipes meets Eastern flavours, freshly baked Zaatar & Beet 🥯 Bagels arrives from air fryer. Enjoy as 🍔Burger or 🍩Donuts or 🍕 #pizza style, choice is endless.

⏰ Prep Time : 10 mins, Proofing : 2.5 hours, 🍲 Air fry Time : 20 mins, 🍴 Makes : 8 bagels

🌾 Ingredients for Za’atar & Beet Bagel :

To prepare plain & Beet bagels ingredients remain same, except using beet for flavoured bagels :

  • ½ tsp Yeast
  • ½ tbsp Demerara Sugar
  • 1/3 cup lukewarm water
  • 1.5 to 2 cups Wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp Canola Oil + extra 2 tbsp for brushing bagels
  • Condiments (Salt, Black Pepper powder, Fennel powder, Za’atar)
  • 1 medium sized peeled Beetroot

 Garnishing :

  • 2-3 tbsp cashews butter or eggless dairy-free Mayo
  • ¼ cup mixed colour diced Bell Peppers
  • ¼ cup low-fat Mozzarella Cheese
  • Condiments (Salt, Black pepper, Oregano seasoning)
  • White & Black Sesame seeds, Pumpkin and Sunflower seeds

 

♨️ Preparing Za’atar & Beet Bagel :

  1. Knead the dough by combining all the above ingredients
  2. Divide the dough into 2 equal parts, wherein take part & add grinded beetroot & knead well
  3. Now slightly coat oil to both doughs & let it proof for 2 hours or until its risen double in size
  4. Once proofed knead both doughs separately for 30 secs to release air & make 4 equal balls from each dough
  5. To shape bagels, form a ring, keep hole an inch long since while proofing it will narrow down
  6. Repeat this step for all the balls & proof for another 45 mins
  7. Fill ¾ of a wok with water & salt, once its boiled, add 2 to 3 balls at a time
  8. Cook 3 mins each side & gently remove on parchment paper to remove excess water
  9. In a small bowl combine seeds, dunk bagels into it then place on tray to bake
  10. Preheat air fryer @ 150° C for 5 mins
  11. Place bagels & bake @ 140° C for 15-20 mins, flip half-way through & remove on wired rack to cool slightly

🍽 Assembling Za’atar & Beet Bagel :

  1. Take a serving plate and serve bagels warm with a dollop of yogurt or spread some cheese
  2. Well, I like having Bagel’s pizza so cut the bagel into 2 halves, spread some dip evenly
  3. Now put cheese and arrange bell peppers, top with cheese and condiments
  4. Air fry @ 140° C for 10 mins and serve them warm or at room temperature 😋
